02What we collect
We collect only what the application actually needs.
- Identity and contact
- Full name, mobile number, email address, date of birth.
- Eligibility
- Highest qualification, year of passing, state, candidate category.
- Consent record
- The fact, date and time of your communications consent.
- Campaign and referral data
- UTM parameters and advertising click identifiers present in the link you arrived through.
- Device and usage data
- Browser type, device type, approximate region derived from IP address, pages viewed and actions taken on this site.
- Payment reference metadata
- Order ID, payment reference, payment status, amount, timestamp and the receipt number issued.
We never see your card or UPI credentials
Card numbers, CVV, UPI PIN, net-banking passwords and one-time passwords are collected and processed entirely by the payment gateway on its own PCI-DSS compliant systems. They are never transmitted to us, never stored by us, and never visible to our staff. We receive only the reference metadata listed above.
03Why we use it, and on what basis
- To process your application and issue your NAF ID
- Performance of the arrangement you entered into by applying.
- To generate, deliver and evaluate the Aptitude Screening
- Performance of that arrangement.
- To take payment and issue your receipt
- Performance of that arrangement, and our legal obligations relating to receipts and tax records.
- To contact you about your application by SMS, WhatsApp, RCS, email and voice
- The consent you gave at the review step, which you can withdraw.
- To share your candidate record with DG Shipping-approved Maritime Training Institutes as part of the admission framework
- Performance of the arrangement, and your consent.
- To improve the site and measure which campaigns bring serious applicants
- Our legitimate interest in running the framework efficiently, balanced against your privacy.
- To detect fraud, impersonation and proxy attempts
- Our legitimate interest and our obligations to the institutes we work with.
04Cookies and tracking
We use browser storage to remember what you typed so a half-finished application is not lost, and to remember your language choice. This is stored on your own device and is cleared when your application is created.
We use analytics and advertising measurement to understand how the page performs and which campaigns produce genuine applicants. These set cookies or similar identifiers.
Opting out. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and you can opt out of advertising measurement through your browser or device privacy controls. The application itself continues to work with analytics blocked.
05Who we share it with
- The payment gateway, to take your payment and confirm it.
- DG Shipping-approved Maritime Training Institutes, as part of the admission framework, where your application progresses towards an institute.
- Service providers acting on our instructions — hosting, communications delivery for SMS, WhatsApp, RCS and email, and analytics. They may use your data only for the service they provide to us.
- Where the law requires it, to a court, regulator or law-enforcement authority.
We do not sell your data
We do not sell, rent, trade or licence your personal data to anyone, and we do not share it with unrelated coaching centres, agents or brokers. If you are contacted by someone who should not have your details, tell us at support@maritimeaspirant.com and we will investigate.
06Storage, retention and security
Your data is stored on servers located in [DATA LOCATION: TO BE CONFIRMED]. Access is restricted to staff and counsellors who need it for your application, and access is logged.
Data is transmitted over encrypted connections. Payment traffic is handled by a PCI-DSS compliant gateway.
How long we keep it. Application and screening records are retained for [RETENTION PERIOD FOR APPLICATION RECORDS]. Payment and receipt records are retained for as long as tax and accounting law requires, currently [STATUTORY RETENTION PERIOD]. Unconverted enquiry data is moved to a cold record after 240 hours and deleted after [COLD RECORD RETENTION].
07Your rights
You may, at any time:
- Access the personal data we hold about you;
- Correct anything inaccurate — a misspelt name, a wrong number, a wrong category;
- Withdraw consent to being contacted;
- Ask us to delete your data;
- Nominate another person to exercise these rights if you are unable to.
Write to support@maritimeaspirant.com from the email address on your record, quoting your NAF ID. We may ask you to confirm your identity against your registered mobile number before we act, because these rights can be abused by someone impersonating you.
What withdrawal or deletion does to an active application. We cannot run an application for someone we are not allowed to contact or whose details we have deleted. Withdrawing consent or requesting deletion will therefore end an application in progress. Where the Aptitude Screening has already been activated, the Fee is not refunded. We will always tell you this before acting, so the choice is an informed one.
08Children and minimum age
This framework is aimed at applicants of 17.5 years and above. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13 under any circumstance.
An applicant under 18 should apply with the knowledge and involvement of a parent or legal guardian, and that parent or guardian may exercise the rights above on the applicant's behalf.
If you believe a child under 13 has given us data, write to support@maritimeaspirant.com and we will delete it.
